Darlington - Former Darlington resident Frank H. Tribbett of Irving, Texas died Sunday in Irving following an extended illness. Born near Mooresville, he attended Darlington High School and Darlington Christian Church. A captain in the Air Force during WWII he served in the European Theater as a fighter pilot flying 87 missions. For 31 years he was a service engineer for General Motors Corp.

His marriage was to Donnis Conrad and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Marshal Lyn Tribbett of Irvin, Texas; three brothers, Louis Tribbett of San Bernardino, Calif; Everett Tribbett of Rialton, Calif and Wesley Tribbett of Darlington and two sisters, Mrs. Raymond Anderson of Darlington and Mrs. Paul Vermillion of Port Lavaca, Texas.

Darlington - Aug 5 - Frist Lt. Frank H. Tribbett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Tribbett southeast of Darlington has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He is a a Mustang Pilot of the 15th AF in Italy and has previously served in North Africa; Sicily and Corsica. Lt. Tribbett who has over 1000 sorties to his credit has recently been awarded the Air Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters. He is now operations officer and flight commander of his squadron. He has been overseas 15 months and has just completed a 10 day rest tour to Cairo, Egypt. Also in the service are three brothers, First Lt. Wesley Tribbett of Lincoln, Nebraska; Capt. Everett Tribbett who is a German Prisoner of War and Major Louis Tribbett who is stationed in Hawaii. All four brothers are in the Air Forces.
