Samuel Teep, aged 72, a veteran in the Sixth Ohio Cavalry, who served with General Phil Sheridan during the Civil War, died at 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at his home, 208 Bluff Street. Dropsy was the cause of the death. Mr. Teep recently moved here from Richmond, Indiana to be with his son, who is employed in a local monument factory. Mr. Teep leaves a widow and 7 children – 5 sons and two daughters. The sons are Sheridan, Frank, Clifford, Leonard and Louis and the daughters are Mary and Faith. He was in the service during the war for 3 years and 9 months. Funeral services occur Friday afternoon.
