Tangier -- Grace Alice Towell, 76, died at 7:30 p.m. CST Wednesday at the home of a son, Worth Towell of Rt. 1 Kingman. She had been in failing health several years. Born Sept. 28, 1886 in Liberty Township, Parke County, she was a daughter of John B. and Sarah Armstrong Swaim and was a lifetime resident of the neighborhood. She married Dennis Towell June 1, 1905. They celebrated their Golden Wedding in 1955. Surviving besides the husband are three sons, Worth, John of Cates and Howard of Terre Haute; three daughters, Mrs. Irma Byerly of Terre Haute, Mrs. Roberta Ready of Hammond and Mrs. Geraldine McGinnis of Rt. 1 Kingman; a brother, Ralph Swaim of Tangier; a sister, Mrs. Latitia Ratcliff of Tangier; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A son, Harold Ford Towell in 1960, and two brothers and two sisters preceded Mrs. Towell in death. Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. CST Saturday at the Davies-Tudor Funeral Home in Marshall, where friends may call. Rev. William Flanigan of the Marshall Federated Church will officiate, and interment will be in Memory Garden Cemetery at Rockville.

Tangier — Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, April 20, at the Davis-Tudor Funeral Home in Marshall for Mrs. Grace Alice Towell, age 76, a life resident of Parke County, who died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at the home of a son, Worth Towell, on Kingman Rt. 1. She had been ill some time. Born Sept. 28, 1886, in Liberty Township, she was the daughter of John B. and Sarah Armstrong Swaim. She was married June 1, 1905, to Dennis Towell, who survives. Other survivors include three sons, Worth and John of Cates and Howard of Terre Haute; three daughters, Mrs. Erma Byerly of Terre Haute, Ms. Roberta Arady of Hammond and Mrs. Geraldine McGinnis of Kingman Rt. 1; a brother, Ralph Swaim of Tangier; a sister, Mrs. Latitia Ratcliff of Tangier; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
