Calvin Toney of Darlington Dies Expires Following Lingering Illness at Culver Hospital Calvin Toney, 73, of Darlington succumbed at Culver hospital at 5 o’clock Wednesday afternoon. He had been in poor health the past four and a half years and seriously ill for six weeks with kidney trouble. Mr. Toney was born in Boone county, March 17, 1866 a son of Harrison and Lucinda Toney. He married Mrs. Ollie (Allie) Elrod, who survives, on Feb. 18, 1901. He had been identified in the shoe repair business here for 30 years, and until 12 years ago operated a place of his own. Mr. Toney was a member of the Newlight church at Advance. In addition to the widow, three sons, Kenneth and Keith Toney, Lafayette, and Edgar Toney, San Pedro, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Bernard Bickett, Lafayette, and Mrs. Freeman Davis, Dayton, O.; four step-children, and five grandchildren survive. The body was taken to the Brainard, Butler & Russell funeral home and will be kept there until Friday noon when it will be removed to the residence of Mr. Brainard where funeral services will be held at 1:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon. The Rev. A. L. Miller and the Rev. C. P. Dtrawmyer will officiate and burial will be made at the Ladoga cemetery.
