J.C. Tolbert, the well known dairyman, died Wednesday (27 December 1893) at his home, three miles northwest of the city. The funeral will occur Saturday morning at 10 o’clock and will be in charge of the Masonic fraternity. Rev. GP Fuson will officiate. The deceased was born in Butler County, Ohio in (7 January) 1836 and served four years in the war. After the war he moved to eastern Indiana and was married to Miss Francenia Klune. In 1873 he came to this county and has for years owned a popular dairy. Mr. Tolbert was an excellent citizen and gentleman. His death is a sad one and his loss will be keenly felt in the community - kbz

The funeral of the late J. C. Tolbert occurred this morning at the residence on the New Richmond Road and was largely attended. The services at the house were in charge of Rev. E. B. Thomson and at the cemetery by Rev. W. H. Howe and the Masons. - kz
