Mary, wife of William Tobin, died this morning at 4:30 o’clock at her home, No 801 (smudge) E. Willard Street at the age of 59 years.  After requiem mass at St. Lawrence Church tomorrow morning at 8 o’clock, the remains will be taken to Crawfordsville for burial. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn the death of a loving wife and kind mother. The children are: Edward Tobin of Roachdale; Mrs. Michael Kelley, Rockville and William and Miss Anna Tobin, Muncie. Deceased was born in Tipperary, Ireland April 2, 1834. She came to this country with her parents in 1840, residing in New York, where in 1850 she was united in marriage to William Tobin, removing to Putnam County, Indiana, in 1863 in which place she spent most of her life until March 1892 when she moved to Muncie.  She was the mother of 8 children 4 of whom are dead. She was a victim of that slow but sure reaper of human life, consumption, having been ill for 18 months most of which time she was confined to her room.  She was a true wife, a devoted self-sacrificing mother, no duty being too burdensome to perform in their behalf. They truly felt the meaning of “boundless as the ocean is a mother’s love.” - kz
