Garold Leroy Titus, 60, 1409 W. Wabash Ave., former city light plant superintendent and for years a Crawfordsville businessman, was fatally stricken Saturday evening while returning from fishing near the city. His body was found on In. 32 about 3 miles west of the city and near the John Jones residence. Fishing equipment he had carried was nearby. The sheriff’s department and coroner were called. Mr. Titus had suffered for some time from a heart ailment. He was light plant superintendent in 1956-60 and in 1936-56 operated the Titus Electric Co. on South Green Street here. Mr. Titus was born April 18, 1904 at Waveland, son of Isaac Guy and Minerva Long Titus. He was married July 3, 1926 to Eldora Weir. He was a member of the Smartsburg Christian Church, Masonic Lodge No. 50 of Crawfordsville and OES of Crawfordsville. Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Clark Wilson of Brownsburg; two brothers, Arnold and Raymond, both of Crawfordsville; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Tilford of Muskegon, Mich. And Mrs. Eileen Sharpe of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren, Janet, Jerry, Julia and Jimmy Wilson, all of Brownsburg; and two aunts, Ruth Titus and Estella Garrigus, both of Crawfordsville. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Eugene. Funeral services are announced for 4 p.m. Wednesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. John Servies officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday.
