A dispatch from Richmond. Ind., has the following concerning a Methodist preacher, well known here, he having formerly been located in Lake county: “Declaring that the story of Adam is a myth and that the Bible is a very embarrassing book, because of its many contradictions, Rev. C. Tinsley, a Methodist pastor of Youngstown, caused a sensation among the orthodox members of the faith at Rushville tonight. Mr. Tinsley lectured before literary organizations on “The Mode, n View Point of Religion” and his argument agreed with the view of scientists. He said this w.is the day of science, that the breach between the church and the educated was widening, and that the old methods and view-point would not answer. The present period, he held, demands a new theory, .». with a new intellectual world.”
