Thomson - Christina Crawford
Source: Crawfordsville Star May 9, 1878
After a long and painful illness, on last Thursday morning, Mrs. Alexander Thomson passed away from earth. The deceased was born in Lebanon, Oio Oct 25, 1812 and was a sister of the late Henry Crawford, whose death occurred only a few weeks since. Her mother died when Mrs. T. was a child of 12 years. Soon after which the family removed to Crawfordsville about 1828 where she made her home with her brother Henry Crawford. Between the two there always existed far more than the usual affectionate brotherly and sisterly regard for each other. In 1840 she linked her fortunes with those of Mr. Alexander Thomson, the surviving husband, who is widely known and honored. She united with the Presbyterian Church of Crawfordsville in 1833 and all her future life was marked with that deep and fervent but not ostentatious piety so beautiful to realize in those we love. She leaves behind a husband and three sons, all grown to man's estate to mourn her loss. By the death of Mrs. Thomson there are numerous humble families left to regret the loss of one whose heart always went out to those in want and in suffering, one whose hand was ever extended to the worthy in distress. The funeral services are being held at the family residence on South Elm Street this afternoon at 2 o'clock The remarks will be made by by Rev. J.P. Stratton past of Center Church assisted by Rev. Dr. Tuttle - kbz
