Trout - Sherman

Sherman Allen Trout, 68 years old, prominent Montgomery County
famrer, passed away at his home seven miles east of this city
Tuesday night. Death occurred at 9:30 o'clock and was caused by
pneumonia which developed after an extended illness.
Mr. Trout was the son of Hannibal and Mary Trout and was born
in this county, January 17, 1865. After receiving his early
education in the public schools of the community he attended
Wabash college.
Mr. Trout devoted his life to agriculture and his farm east of
the city was regarded as one of the finest in this part of the
state. Several years ago he was honored with a master farmer's
certificate and rated as one of Indian's leading farmers.
Mr. Trout was appointed trustee of the state penal farm by
Gov. Samuel Ralston and aserved in this capacity for one
term.
He was a member of the Elks lodge and the Bea Theta Pi
fraternity and for many years had taken an ative interest in the
affairs of the college. He was also active in the Kiwanis club
and when his health failed was made an honorary member of this
organization.
Those surviving are the widow and a brother Roy Trout of this
city. A brother and sister preceded him in death.
The funeral services will be held at the home Friday afternoon
at two o'clock and burial will be made at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
The Rev. Guy Carpenter, former pastor of the First Methodist
church will preach the funeral sermon.
