Source: Waveland Independent Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana July 26, 1945

Dr. Claude C. Travis, a retired Methodist minister, well known   in Crawfordsville where he attended Wabash College, died   Wednesday morning at Phoenix, AX. He was born in Argentina, where   his father, a Civil War veteran and prominent citizen of   Crawfordsville for many years, was serving as United States   Counsel. While a student at Wabash, Dr. Travis began preaching   and upon graduation in 1895, became pastor of the Methodist   Church in Waveland. He preached in numerous churches in this and   other conferences including some of our best pulpits until his   retirement. He lived four years in California, then moved to AZ   where a son-in-law, Dr. CS Kendall was pastor of the Central   Methodist Church. He was stricken with coronary thrombosis on   Sunday two weeks ago after he had preached a sermon on the   subject, "Life to the Full!"
