WAYNETOWN—William Franklin (Ponecar) Thompson, 77, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday at his home here. He had been ill a year with a heart ailment and in serious condition two days. Born April 29, 1882, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, he was a son of James K. and Emily Cable Thompson. He was married Aug. 3, 1927, at Crawfordsville, to Lola Wilson. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Waynetown Christian Church, a charter member of Indiana and Illinois Foxhunters Assn., which was organized more than 50 years ago, and was employed by the State Highway Dept. 25 years before retirement eight years ago. He had lived in this community more than 50 years. Survivors include the wife; a daughter, Mrs. Eileen Kenyon of Crawfordsville; a son-in-law, Richard Kenyon of Crawfordsville; a sister, Mrs. Laura Kingery of Danville, Ill., a brother, E. C. (Bus) Thompson of Crawfordsville and two grandsons, Mike and Davis Kenyon, both of Crawfordsville. He was preceded in death by a brother. Funeral rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Servies Funeral Home here with Rev. Homer M. Cole, pastor of the Waynetown Christian Church, in charge. Rev. Cole will be assisted by Rev. Guy E. Tremaine. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.
