Silas “Butch” Thompson, 63, of the Monon Hotel in Crawfordsville, died at 11 p.m. Friday at Culver Hospital following a short illness. He was born July 31, 1906, near Waynetown, the son of Harvey G. and Minnie Smith Thompson. He was educated in the Waynetown and Mt. Tabor schools. Survivors include two half-brothers, Herman Thompson of Crawfordsville and Earl Thompson of Germany. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Powers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wesley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. – jlr
