Thompson - Mattie Simms

Mrs. Mattie Thompson died at her home one half mile south of Waynetown Wed afternoon at 4:15 o'clock following a heart attack. Mrs. Thompson was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Widener Simms and was born at Elmdale. She was married to John Thompson Sept 7, 1892. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1931. She was a member of the Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star at Waynetown. Survivors include one son, Ray D. Thompson at home; a sister, Mrs. Ira Meharry, New Richmond and a half brother, Herbert Simms of Chicago. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday from the family residence. The Rev. Guy E. Tremaine officiated and was assisted by Rev. Claude Eaton. Mrs. William Logsdon was painist for Miss Mamie Lough who sang, Sunrise. The pall bearers were RD Bible, MJ Fruits, Bernice Gooding, George Gravett, Sr, Jeff Stockdale and Donald Moore. Burial in Masonic Cemetery. - typed by kbz
