John J. Thompson, 55, 706 W. Wabash Ave., a resident of Crawfordsville all his life, died in his sleep Tuesday night of a heart attack. He was born April 22, 1905, in Crawfordsville. His parents were Emmett and Louella Thompson. He was first married to Thelma Courtney. His second wife was Thelma Duncan who died in October 1959. He worked in the brick plant in the city and at the aluminum plant in Lafayette. He is survived by two brothers, Carl and Edward of Crawfordsville; four sisters, Mrs. Elva Miller of California, Mrs. Frances Blanton of Waynesborough, Ky., Mrs. Ben Rankin and Mrs. Mary Stites of Crawfordsville; two sons, Howard and Charles of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Mrs. William McIntyre and Mrs. Dan Roche of Crawfordsville; two step children, Jack Duncan and Mrs. William Berlin of Crawfordsville; 19 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. (EST) Friday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Luther in charge. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Thursday.
