Wingate – James Otto Thompson, 60, died suddenly at 7:45 p.m. Thursday at his home one and one-half miles northeast of Wingate. He was born July 4, 1899, near Alamo, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson. He was twice married. His first marriage was to Naomi Cox. She preceded him in death. His second marriage was to Bernice Larson. They were married Feb. 22, 1954. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Wingate Christian Church, Eagles and Moose Lodges of Crawfordsville, Fathers’ Auxiliary of the VFW and was a charter member of the Athens Saddle Club. Mr. Thompson, a farmer, lived at Alamo and Linden before moving near here. Survivors include the wife; three sons, Henry of Crawfordsville and James F. and Jerry P. Thompson, both of Wingate; three daughters, Helen Hankins of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Elizabeth Bartlett of Linden and Miss Janet P. Thompson, at home; three brothers, William of Attica, Joseph of Vandalia, Ill., and Virgil of Terre Haute. He was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Monday at Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. Homer Hunsinger of Lebanon officiating. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p. m.
