VEEDERSBURG — Elmer L. Thompson, 84, of Rt. 1, Veedersburg, died at 2 p.m. Sunday at Care Nursing Home at Danville, Ill., where he had been a patient the past 10 days. Mr. Thompson had been ill about four years. Mr. Thompson was a former Fountain County surveyor and had served two terms as Fountain County assessor. For 20 years he was a member of the Fountain County Board of Review. He was educated at Hillsboro and a member of Masonic Lodge 385 at Hillsboro and the Hillsboro Methodist Church. He was born March 8, 1884, at Hillsboro, a son of Andrew and Luticia (Denman) Thompson. He was reared by his grandmother, Mrs. Susanna Salle. On April 11, 1938, he was married to Edith Glascock. Surviving are the widow; a brother, Guy of Los Angeles, and a sister, Mrs. Faye Nutt of Crawfordsville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crumley-Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro with Rev. Arthur Schenck officiating. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery.
