Browns Valley -- Mrs. Edith THOMPSON, 64, died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday at her home here. She had been seriously ill two months. Mrs. Thompson is a former teacher in the Browns Valley and Liberty Schools. She was last employed by Coal Creek Telephone Company at Waveland. Prior to that she was employed by RR Donnelley & Sons, Crawfordsville. She was a member of the Browns Valley Christian Church & Ladies Aid Society. She also was a charter member of the Montgomery Co. Home Demonstration Club and held the office of assistant secretary. Born Oct 3, 1902 in Montgomery County, she was a daughter of Reuben and Louise SMITH MILES. She was married Aug 26, 1923 to Leroy Thompson. They were married at Crawfordsville. Survivors include the husband; her mother, Mrs. Louise Miles of Browns Valley; two sons, Leland of Crawfordsville and Leon of New Market; a brother, Ernest Miles of Waveland; 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father. The body was taken to Machled & Servies Funeral Home at Waveland where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Philip Buslog and Rev. Grover DeNeal will officiate. Interment will be in Freedom Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Monday. --kbz
