On last Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mr. R. L. Kline, Uncle Dave Thompson with a large company of his friends, celebrated the anniversary of his eighty-third mile-stone in this life. All the members of his family with the exception of W. F. Thompson and family were present and took part in the festivities, but they were unavoidably absent on account of sickness. The dinner was a sumptuous collation of every good thing that was tempting to the palate and forty-three paid honor to those who prepared it by feasting to their soul’s content. Of those present there were eight, whose ages aggregated 606 years, an average of 76 years to each. They were Uncle Dave Thompson 83, Frank Thompson 76, Abaslom Hurt 83, Uncle Jesse Grenard 90, Aunt Isabelle Grenard 72, James Gilkey 69, Margaret Thompson 67, and Nancy Harlow 66, and for their ages it would be hard to find another equal number of old people who are as well preserved and as hale and strong. After the dinner was over, W. M. Gray treated the company to a splendid entertainment on his graphaphone giving a large number of fine selections. Later in the evening the eight old people were placed in position and their pictures taken and following this was another including the entire company. The event was a most pleasant one, and it is hoped by all present that Uncle Dave may be spared many pleasant returns of the day. -s
