[Died 23 June 1907]
Aaron Thompson, who made his home with his son, A. J. Thompson a mile west of Ladoga, died last Sunday at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 24 days. Mr. Thompson was truly one of our pioneer citizens having been born on a farm near Whitesville, March 30, 1831 and having spent his life in the county.
He was married to Sophia Everson in March 1853. Four children were born to them of whom two are living. They are Mrs. Ben Himes and James A. Thompson. Two sons and the wife preceded the father and husband to the beyond. There are left also one grandchild, Ethel Himes; two sisters, Mrs. James Smith, of Ladoga, and Mrs. Henry McDaniel, of Darlington. These with many other relatives and friends are left to mourn their loss.
Five years ago Mr. Thompson showed symptoms of Bright's disease, and at times his suffering was intense, but he bore it patiently an cheerfully. During the last year he required most constant watching and his son with whom he lived attended to him almost day and night.
The funeral service was held at the residence last Tuesday afternoon and was conducted by Rec. S. G. Smith. Interment was made in Ladoga Cemetery.
