Kingman - Vern Thomas, 80, of Covington, a former Kingman resident died in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill Monday. He had been admitted to the hospital Sunday. Mr. Thomas was born in Fountain County Oct 25, 1889 to John and Sciota Boyd Thomas. He was married to Sadie Tooker who died May 6, 1959. He was a retired fireman on the C&EI RR and was a former janitor at Kingman HS. Survivors include 4 daughters, Mrs. Irene Krug of Covington; Mrs. Dale (Theresa) Steenbergen of Danville, Ill; Mrs. Hayden (Mary) Smith of Covington and Mrs. Sam (Janet) Crowder of Steamboat Springs, Colo; two sons, John of San Francisco and Merl of Cairo, Ill; 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Services will be at Woodrow Funeral Home at Kingman at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Luther Page officiating. Interment will be in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. --kbz
