R. M. Thomas, died at the residence of his brother, George A. Thomas, at Wynoose, Ill., on the 19th inst., in the 82nd year of his age. he was born in Miami county, Ohio, Aug. 18, 1810. At the age of 11 years he had white swelling, since which time he has walked with a cane. He came to Montgomery county in 1831 and located in Coal Creek township. He became a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian church the same year. In 1837 he was married to Belinda Hixson with whom he lived happily 32 years, she having died Feb. 1870. Since the death of his wife he has lived with relatives in Indiana, Ohio. Iowa and Illinois. He was a man of deeply religious convictions and earnestly contended that every one should read and interpret the scripture for himself. In church work he never faltered but was ready for every good work. He was secretary of the Western Indiana Christian conference for more than 40 years. -- thanks to Kim H
