Veedersburg - Harry G. Thomas retired railroadman of Veedersburg died at 12:40 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. In failing health for 10 years, he had been seriously ill two years and hospitalized only a day. Mr. Thomas resided at Veedersburg for 26 years. He was retired from the maintenance department of the NY Centrail Railroad. He came to Veedersburg from Yeddo where he had been employed as a coal miner. A son of Tom and Josephine Riley Thomas he was born in Harveysburg Oct 2, 1894. He married Artea Royce in Fountain County Nov 15, 1913. Surviving are the widow; three sons, Frank, Ora and Paul of Veedersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Conner of Covington and Mrs. Alberta Ansberry of Honolulu, Hawaii; 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three children, a brother and five sisters. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery. - kbz

Veedersburg – Harry G. Thomas, 73, of 120 E Washington St, died at 12:40 a.m. Monday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill where he had been a patient a day. He had been in failing health 1 -years and seriously ill two years. Born at Harveysburg, he lived in Veedersburg 26 years. He was a retired employee of the NY Central Railroad and formerly worked as a coal miner in the Yeddo area of Fountain County. He was married in 1913 to Artea Royce, who survives with two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Conner of Covington and Mrs. Alberta Amsberry of Honolulu, Hawaii and three sons, Frank, Ora and Paul, all of Veedersburg. - kbz
