Wallace - Earl Thomas, 62 former resident of this community died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in Columbia Hospital at Warsaw. He resided at Lake Chatman near Warsaw. Mr. Thomas had been in failing health 3 years and seriously ill 10 days. Born June 23, 1883 at Waynetown, he was a son of Joseph and Mida Myers Thomas. He was married to Mary Jane Rice of Terre Haute who survives. Mr. Thomas attended school at Wallace. He also attended Bloomingdale Academy and taught school in Parke & Fountain counties a number of years. In 1915, he became employed by the Internal Revenue Service. He retired from IRS work in 1955. Survivors in addition to the widow include a brother, Bon Thomas of Grange Corner a stepdaughter, Mrs. Homer Cushman of Jasonville; two nieces and six nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bibler Funeral Home, Warsaw. Interment in Oakwood cemetery there.
