GRANGE CORNER — Betty June Thomas, 77, of near Grange Corner, died at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2006 in Heritage House Nursing Home, Clinton. She was born June 9, 1929 in Byron, the daughter of Guy Porter and Florence VanCleave. She married Joseph B. Thomas Aug. 3, 1947 in New Market. He survives. She was a graduate of Waveland High School. She was a homemaker. She attended Friends Union Church and Wolf Creek Church. She was a member of the Wolf Creek Ladies Aid and Crosswalkers Square Dance Club. She enjoyed sewing, woodworking, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors, besides the husband, include: daughters, Joanette Hendel, Westfield and Pauline (Terry) McMasters, Veedersburg; seven grandchildren, Brandy (Matt) Houmes, Derrick McMasters, Dustin (Nikki) McMasters, Joe (Janet) Hendel, Bethany Hendel, Matt Hendel, and Amanda (Matt) Morrison; and seven great-grandchildren, Taylor Dunlap, Audrey Houmes, Sydney Houmes, Elizabeth McMasters, Hunter McMasters, Joccelynn Morrison, and Hannah Morrison. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Alexander Hendel; five sisters; and two brothers. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday in Wolf Creek Church near Wallace, with the Rev. Lester Niles officiating. Burial was in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Waynetown, was in charge of arrangements.
