-- The body of Pfc Kenneth J. Teague, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Teague, of New Ross, was due to arrive Sunday in San Francisco from Korea. Pfc Teague was killed in action in Korea Aug 3. the body of Pfc. Teague was one of 505 bodies of American soldiers returned to the US aboard the "Lynn Victory" due in the San Francisco port of embarkation Sunday. Parents of the war casualty have planned a private funeral for their son at the New Ross Christian Church to be followed by a military service at the grave. Burial will be in the New Ross Cemetery. Pfc Teague is one of six children of Mr. and Mrs. Teague. In addition, his father has four children born of his first marriage. His brother, Raymond Teague, and three of his four sisters live at home. The sisters are Miss Willie B. Teague, Mrs. Irene Spurlock and Mrs. Roberta Halton all at home and Miss Joann Teague of near New Market. The two half-brothers and two half-sisters are Bill Teague of Detroit, Mich and Clyde Teague, Mrs. Hazel Powell and Mrs. Mary Hubbard all of Bimble, Ky the family's former home. Pfc. Teague was born in Kentucky July 23, 1930. He and a cousin enlisted in the service only a day part just before Christmas 1948. They served with the same organization in Korea. Pfc. Teague was a truck driver in Company B of the 27th Infantry regiment in Korea. He had his basic training at Camp Breckenridge and was sent overseas to Japan in the spring of 1949. Before leaving for Japan he had a four-week furlough at home. News of his death in action came to his parents in New Ross through the Red Cross organizations after a buddy had written his girlfriend that he had been killed. Pfc. Teague's buddy wrote that he and Teague had suddenly encountered four enemy snipers while on duty and that Teague killed three of them before being mortally wounded by a shot fired by the fourth sniper.
