Roy F. Taylor of 710 S. Washington Street sustained a fatal heart attack shortly before 11:30 a.m. Thursday. He was stricken while doing carpenter work on a house at 407 S. Walnut Street. The house is owned by Bud Leaverton. The city fire department's resuscitator squad was called to aid the stricken man but he was dead upon its arrival, firemen said. The county coroner was called Mr. Taylor was born Jan 6, 1894, at Kirkpatrick, the son of C.W. and Emma Crouch Taylor. He was married Jan 6, 1918, in Crawfordsville to Cora M. Zachary. For many years he was employed as a tinner and carpenter but had been retired for some time. He also was a former employee of the city street department. He attended school at Smartsburg and Crawfordsville and served in the US Army during WWI. He belonged to the Modern Woodman and POS of A Lodges. He also held membership in the Garfield Christian Church. Survivors include the wife; three daughters, Mrs. William Manges and Mrs. David Todd of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Lloyd Cash of New Market; three granddaughters; two brothers, Oscar Taylor of Crawfordsville and Ernest Taylor of Chicago and three sisters, Miss Marie Taylor and Mrs. Mary Jane Wilkinson of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Gladys WIlkinson of Lafayette. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m.. with Rev. John Servies officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
