Mrs. Jemima Taylor, relict of late late Reuben Taylor, died at her home on South Green street, on Saturday evening, at 5 o'clock, of heart disease, aged 67 years. The death was very sudden, and the messenger came without warning. She was sitting in a chair engaged in conversation With her daughter, Mrs.J.C. Lambert, when the suddenly raised her hand toward her face and fell over dead. Dr. May hastily summoned, but no power could restore life. Her death had been instantaneous and absolutely painless. Her spirit was set free without pain, sickness or suffering. Mrs. Taylor's maiden name was Jemima Pickett. She was born in Kenton county, Kentucky, March 19, 1821, and the years of her girlhood were spent in that State. On June 28, 1836, at the age of 17, she was married to Reuben Taylor, and they immediately came to this place where they expected to make their future home. The absence of all other means of conveyance made it necessary for the young pair to accomplish the journey on horse back which was successfully done. She united with the Methodist congregation worshiping in Crawfordsville in a very short time after her arrival here, and has been a good, consistent and zealous member of that organization ever since, one of the mothers in Israel who stood up manfully and aided the church of Indiana in its infancy. All honor to her memory. She and her husband lived together for 57 years, and were happy and contented as people could well be. On the 11th of July, 1883, Mr. Taylor died and since that time she has occupied the home alone. Four children, two sons and two daughters, were the fruit of the union. Only one survives, Mrs. Jemima C. Lambert, of Washington, D.C., who was with her when she died, having only arrived a few hours previous to her demise. The funeral occurred on Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. from the residence, Rev. G. W. Switzer officiating. Interment at Oak Hill. - thanks to Kim H ========
