Taylor - Hepsy Humphries

– Hephzibah J. HUMPHREY TAYLOR was born at Brook’s Mill on Sugar Creek near Alamo July 3, 1844 and passed away Dec 9, 1938, aged 94 years 5 months 6 days. She was the daughter of David M. and Elizabeth Sayler Humphrey. Of a large family all have passed away except the youngest half brother, Hiram of Terre Haute. She was wedded to George Samuel Taylor in Nov 1861. To this union were born 3 children, the oldest of whom, Martha Ellen died in infancy. Charles B. and Margaret and survive her and are present today. There are two grandchildren, Robert I Taylor of Winter Haven, Fl and Mrs. Dorothy Taylor Haymaker of Lenoir, NC. Also five great grands of whom she was very fond and who will cherish her memory as long as they live. She was a member of the Waveland Methodist church. A patient and loving mother with always a kind word for everybody. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at 2 on Sunday afternoon with Rev. Frederick Cromer officiating assisted by Rev J.O. Carder. 3 of her favorite hymns were rendered by Mrs. TS Banta and Mrs. Wilmer Sharp with Mrs. Lowell Spencer at piano. Burial beside her husband in the Presbyterian cemetery. The pall bearers were Clarence Milligan; Homer Robison; Alonzo Deere; Owen Dooley; Lee Foster and Richard Milligan. Flowers were carried by Mrs. Sam Milligan and Miss Frances. Out of town relatives who attended the services were Mrs. Lee Crist and Miss Mary of Indianapolis; Mrs. Milbert Sayler; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vancleave and Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Sanders and children of New Market; Mr. and Mrs. Lennie Myers; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Canine and Miss Tiny Myers all of Marshall. -- kbz
