Taylor - Charles 2 - 1892
Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal Monday, 30 May 1892
Yesterday morning at 7 o’clock Chas. Taylor, the well known Vandalia freight conductor, received injuries at Catlin, that resulted in his death. As the train neared Catlin he thought he saw somebody climb on the cars and went toward to see who it was. When the train reached the station it was moving slowly and he climbed down the side of one of the cars and jumped off. The platform being wet, he slipped and was thrown under one of the cars, the wheels of which passed over both legs between the ankle and the knee, crushing them to a pulp. Mr. Taylor was 61 years of age and has been in the employ of the Vandalia company for thirty years.
