Crawfordsville, Ind Aug 31 – Capt. Henry Hart Talbot, 89 years old, Crawfordsville’s most prominent civil war veteran, died suddenly at his home here today. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in Co C 7th Ky cavalry. He served with this unit during the duration of the war. Although his family sympathized with the cause of the Confederacy, Capt. Talbot enlisted with the Army of the Republic. He was twice decorated for distinguished service and in two engagements suffered severe wounds.  Following the close of the war he moved to Montgomery County with his family where he had since made his home. Capt. Talbot was the oldest Mason in this county. For nearly a score of years he had served as commander of McPherson Post of the Grand Army.  The widow and two daughters survive. The funeral will be at the Masonic temple here Wednesday afternoon. - kbz
