Final plans for the funeral services
of Dr. George Henry TAPY (Tappy?) were announced today as Wabash College and
Crawfordsville prepared to pay tribute to the man who had been a member of the
college faculty 24 years. The last rites will begin in the Wabash College
Chapel at 2:30 Sunday afternoon. From 12 o´clock noon until the hour of the
service the body will lie in state at the chapel. The funeral sermon will be
preached by Rev. Melvin V. Oggel of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church. The
Rev. Obed Johnson, a member of the college faculty will give the prayer while
the scripture reading will be delivered by Dr. WA Millis, president emeritus of
Hanover and now member of Wabash faculty. The active pall bearers will be
member of the Sigma Chi fraternity of which Dr. Tapy had acted as faculty
adviser for several years. They will be: Robert Koenecke; George O´Neal; Roy
Rogers; Stewart Tipton; John Ewoldt and Hamill Kelly. A guard of honor composed
of representatives of other fraternities will take part in the service. The
burial will be made in the family lot of Oak Hill Cemetery.
