Mr. George Samuel Taylor, who has been very sick for some  weeks d. at his home on W. Main St. on Sat. morning, March 25.  The fun. services at the Presbyterian Church on Mon. morning were conducted  by the Rev.TG Pearce assisted by Rev AW Smith. Interm. in  Presbyt. Cemetery Mr. Taylor was the son of Benj & Margaret  Taylor. He was the sixth of 12 children, and the last surviving  member of the family. He was b. on Dec 20, 1835, on the old  Taylor homestead near New Market, a part of the section entered  by his grandfather, Aaron VanCleave. By the death of his father  in 1850 he was left the burden of the care of the family at the  early age of 15. He lived on the farm for a # of years.  Afterwards he carried on a livery business in Waveland, the  stable standing where TL Hanna's residence now stands. He was a  desc of old Ky. families on both sides. He marr. Miss Hepsy J.  Humphrey, daughter of David M. Humphrey in Nov 1861 at Pleasant  View by his cousin, Rev. Jonathan VanCleave. To them were b. 3  ch: Martha Ellen, who d. Dec 1863; Charles Benj. and Margaret Ann  who, with the widow, survive. Aaron VanCleave, WiIl and Miss Eva  VanCleave, of Browns Valley, and Marion and Miss Lennie VanCleave  of New Market were present at the funeral. The brothers of Mrs.  Taylor, who live near Terre Haute, did not get the word in time  to come. - transcribed by kbz
