HAROLD TANSELLE

Harold Tanselle, 79, of Lebanon, retired farmer and father of Mrs. Naomi Partner and Erval Tanselle, both of Crawfordsville, died Thursday in Whitham Hospital at Lebanon. He had made his home at Lebanon since 1955. He was employed by the state and county highway departments, the Commercial Filter Corp., as a night watchman for the Boone County Highway Department and as a school crossing guard. He was a member of the Baptist faith and active in senior citizens activities at Lebanon. Born March 14, 1894, he was a son of Franklin and Stella Tanselle. He was the last survivor of 11 children. He was married to the former Lydia Myrtle Phipps, who died in 1968. Other survivors include two other daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Coons of North Salem and Donna Gott of Lebanon; three other sons, Donald of Missouri, James of Lebanon and Merlin of Whitestown, 22 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Myers Chapel of Memories at Lebanon with the Rev. Fred Sharp officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lebanon. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday. – jlr
