Symmes - William Vincent

William Vincent Symmes, 73, a former businessman, died Friday morning at the Ben Hur Nursing Home. He was born March 12, 1896, in Crawfordsville, the son of Samuel D. and Nancy Symmes. He was married twice. His first marriage was to Mary Proctor who preceded him in death in 1962. His second marriage was to Donna Funkhouser. He was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, American Legion and served in World War I. After the war he formed the Symmes-Williams Electrical Co. with Faye Williams, now deceased. Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Oscar Norman of Wilmington, Del., and two grandchildren, Pamela and Bill Norman, also of Wilmington, Del. Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. John Servies officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends are invited to call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. The family requests no flowers. – jlr
