After a prolonged illness of
many weeks, Frank Swearingen, one of the oldest citizens of Waynetown passed
away at his home in that place Sunday evening at 6:20 o’clock. Mr.
Swearingen was 77 years of age. He was the son of Rev. Joseph Swearingen who
was a well known Baptist minister of Montgomery County years ago. Rev.
Swearingen had a family of 16 children, of whom 11 are still living. Charles
Swearing of this city is a brother and Mrs. Elmer Steele who lives east of
Crawfordsville is a sister of the deceased. Frank Swearingen was a life long
Democrat, who always believed strongly in the principles of Democracy. He was
one of Wayne township’s staunchest citizens. Funeral services at half past 10
o’clock Tuesday morning. Burial at Waynetown. - kbz
