Crawfordsville, Ind Sept 4 – Dr. William Gray Swank, 76 one of the oldest physicians in Montgomery County and a former city health officer, died of heart disease at his home here today. At one time he served as chief surgeon for the MO Pacific Railroad. Among survivors are the widow, a daughter, Mrs. Nelle Shortridge of this city and two sons, Charles Swank of Baltimore, MD and Robert Swank of Anderson. – kbz

Crawfordsville, Ind Sept 5 – Dr. William G. Swank, age 65, former city health officer and a practicing physician here many years id dead at his home following an extended illness. During his undergraduate days at Wabash College, Dr. Swank was a roommate of Dr. George Lewes Mackintosh for many years president of Wabash. Dr. Swank was graduated from Beaumont University in St. Louis after attending Wabash for three years. During the world war he served as a volunteer in the US shipyard at Newport News, Va. For 10 years he was chief surgeon for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was a member of Trinity ME Church here. Dr. Swank was reared on a farm northwest of Crawfordsville. The widow and three children survive.
