Seth O. Swank, 86, retired farmer, died in his sleep late Thursday night in his room at the Monon Hotel. Mr. Swank farmed in this county for many years. He and Mrs. Swank served as superintendents of the Montgomery County Farm for eight years. For the past 16 years, he had been helping with the training of harness-horse racers. Born Jan. 17, 1878, north of Elmdale, he was the son of Pres and Susan Allhands Swank. He was married April 10, 1901, in Crawfordsville to May Wilkinson. She preceded him in death on June 6, 1948. The survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Leo Thompson, who lives west of Crawfordsville; a granddaughter, Mrs. Joan Paligraf of Huntingburg; two step-grandsons, Ernest and Russell Thompson; two great-grandsons, and six step-great-grandsons. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. John R. Servies in charge. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Saturday.
