WAYNETOWN - Mrs. Lula Ann Swank, 92, of Waynetown, died at 8:15 pm. Sunday in Lane House Nursing Home at Crawfordsville. She had been in the nursing home since July 10. A native and life resident of the area, Mrs. Swank was a former employee of Waynetown Café. She was first married in 1902 to John P. Swank, who died in 1955. Her second marriage in 1956 was to Oley Swank and he died in 1967. She was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Clifford of Waynetown; one daughter Mrs. Roy (Mary Ellen) Meharry of Rt. 1, New Richmond; a stepson, Frank Swank of Anderson; and two stepdaughters, Mrs. Levetta Richardson of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Fayala Wills of Sheridan. - kbz

WAYNETOWN — Mrs. Lula Swank, 92, of Waynetown died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday in Lane House at Crawfordsville where she had been a patient since July. She was the oldest living member of the Waynetown Baptist Church. Mrs. Swank had been employed by the Waynetown Restaurant. She was born Aug. 4, 1881, north of Waynetown, a daughter of S.J. "Jep" and Mary Samantha Earl Grenard. She was married to John P. Swank Aug. 13, 1912. He preceded her in death March 29, 1955. She was then married to Oley Swank of Noblesville in August, 1956. He preceded her in death March, 1967. Survivors include a son, Clifford of Waynetown; a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Mary Ellen) Meharry of Rt. 1, New Richmond; a stepson, Frank Swank of Anderson; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Levetta Richardson of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Fayola Willis of Sheridan; two nieces, Mrs. Mary Servies of Waynetown and Mrs. Opal Goldsberry of South Bend; three grand-sons; four great-grandchildren and several step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Harlan, and a brother, Emit. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Servies-Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephen Malone officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
