A veteran of both world wars, Earl B. SUTHERLIN died at his home in Russellville last Friday. He was 63. The son of Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Sutherlin he was born in Putnam Co Aug 8, 1892, and attended school in Russellville. He attended Central Normal College; also Indiana and Purdue Universities and did graduate work at the University of Chicago and University of California. He then made a career of army service and served as a first lt. During WWI and a Lt. Col. during WWII. He retired in 1952 after 30 years of service and began teaching in Russellville HS. He served also as post commander of Russellville Legion Post 5 which he helped organize. An active member of the Christian Church Mr. S. also was a past master of Morton Masonic Lodge, honorary member of Scabbard & Blade at the University of Cincinnati and a member of the Civil Air Patrol of Crawfordsville. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hazel K. Sutherlin, a brother, Colonel Lee Sutherlin of Caldwell, NJ and two nephews, Richard and Robert Sutherlin of Caldwell. Funeral services were held Sunday at Russellville Christian Church and burial in Hebron Cemetery.  -- transcribed by kbz
