Percy Walter Stump, 60, of Wilmette, Ill., a former resident of Crawfordsville who was to have attended a retirement party being held in his honor at the local R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. plant here Tuesday, died suddenly Monday night after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Stump was pronounced dead on arrival at Culver Hospital after he was stricken at a city motel where he and his wife planned to spend the night. He was to have retired Tuesday after 42 years with the Donnelley company, six of them at the local plant where he was employed from 1942 to 1948. He was then transferred to the firm's Chicago headquarters and made his home in Wilmette. Born Sept. 27, 1908, in Galton, Ill., Mr. Stump was the son of Homer and Emma Stolley Stump. He married the former Ida Smith. Survivors include the widow; the mother of Arcola, Ill.; two sons, Philip of Chicago and David of Park Forest, Ill.; six grandchildren, and two brothers, Floyd and Donald, both of Arcola. The body will be taken from the Hunt & Son Funeral Home here to William Scott Funeral Home in Wilmette where funeral arrangements are pending. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Skokie, Ill.
