Strong- Sophornia McCampbell

Mrs. A. W. Strong died at her home near Guion on Wednesday morning of last week after an illness of over a year, but which has been critical for the past six weeks. Funeral services were held at the home on Saturday afternoon in charge of Rev. JD Ulay of Evansville, who formerly lived in Russellville and had charge of the Russellville and Guion Presbyterian churches. The pallbearers were her grandsons, Kenneth Milligan; Alexander Minnie; Chuck Hamilton; Lowell Osborn and Richard and ROland Milligan. The many beautiful floral offerings were carried by her grandchildren, Marjory Osborn, Gertrude Lammers, Kathleen Hamilton, Junior Milligan, Mary Virginia Minnie, Francis Gay Lee, Helen Thomas, Dale Milligan. Her maiden name was Sophronia Ellen McCampbell and she was the daughter of Samuel and Martha McCampbell of Marshall and was born April 12, 1852 being over 80 years old at the time of her death. She was married to Mr. Strong May 20, 1874 who survives her but is in poor health. There are six children: Mrs. Lulu Pickert of Carthage; Dr DS Strong of Terre Haute; Mrs. Mayme Lee at home; Mrs Virginia S. Minnie of Eau Claire, Wis; Mrs. Bonnie THomas of Omaha, neb; and Mrs. Ruby Milligan of Waveland; 3 brothers, Harvey McCampbell of Kansas City; Henry McCampbell of Marshall and Charles McCampbell of Chicago; Mrs. Margaret Boyd of Annapolis, Ind; 12 grandchildren and 2 greats. Mrs. Strong was greatly respected in the community. She was a member of the Guion Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star and Judson Ladies' Social Union and the Greene Twp Woman's Club.- transcribed by kbz - please give credit
