James Benjamin "Ben" Stout, 79, of 111 E. Franklin St, died at 5:42 p.m. Thursday in Culver Hospital. A retired state highway employee, Mr. Stout served as a military policeman in WWII. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, American Legion 40 & 8 and Elks Lodge. He was born Sept 20, 1904 in Montgomery County, a son of Harry Thompson and Anna Beam Stout. He was graduated from Crawfordsville HS in 1922 and attended Wabash and Hanover Colleges. On Nov 17, 1934, he married Bessie Taylor at Crawfordsville; she survives. Other survivors include his mother, Anna of Crawfordsville; a brother, Paul of Crawfordsville and a sister, Margaret VanScoyoc of Marion. A brother preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Hunt & Son FH with Rev. Robert McMillen and Rev. Alvin Ricklefs officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites. Friends may call at the funeral home 2-6 pm. Sunday. - kbz
