Benjamin F. Stout, 87, prominent Montgomery County farmer died at his home at Wesley 7 miles west of Crawfordsville, Tuesday morning at 8:35 o'clock. Death was due to apoplexy. He was stricken last Sunday night as he arose from the table after his evening meal and never regained consciousness. Born in Fayette County, Ind, on February 14, 1848, the son of Wilson and Esther Turner Stout, he came to this county with his parents when he was a child. He had spent the remainder of his life in the neighborhood in which he died. Mr. Stout who was widely known throughout the western part of the county, had been a farmer all of his life. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Brethren Church. The survivors include two sons, J. Frank Stout, 1001 W Main and Harry T. Stout of three miles northeast of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Mrs. Lulu Edwards, who had lived with her father since the death of her husband two years ago and Mrs. Elsie Layne of five miles south of Waynetown; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mr. Stout was the last of a family of 10 children. In April 1871, he was married to Miss Emily Messmore whose death occurred July 11, 1931. They celebrated both their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries together. The funeral servies will be held at the Wesley Methodist Church on thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in the family lot at Wesley Cemetery.
