NEW ROSS – Curtis J. Stoner, former resident of the New Ross and Advance communities, died early Tuesday morning at the Americana Nursing Home in Indianapolis. Mr. Stoner, 87, had been in failing health for the last seven months. His wife, who survives, is also a patient at the home. The deceased was a member of the New Ross Christian Church. A son of Francis M. and Melissa Powell Stoner, he was born in New Ross on Oct. 30, 1880. He was married to Veva Oro Talbott on May 1, 1901. Surviving besides the wife are three sons, Harold C. or Lebanon, John R. of Indianapolis and Charles E. of Rensselaer; two daughters, Wanda Peffley of Indianapolis and Mrs. Marian Long of Hulett, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. A grandchild and a great-grandchild preceded him in death. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Walker Funeral Home at Jamestown. Burial will be in the New Ross Cemetery.
