Waynetown, Dec. 10 Funeral services will be held here Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church for Mrs. Rebecca A. Stivers, former resident of this place who died at her home in Lafayette Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. A stroke of paralysis which she suffered ten days ago was the cause of her death. Mrs. Stivers was the widow of William Stivers who preceded her in death forty-five years ago. She was born in Waynetown on December 9, 1851, a daughter of William and Elizabeth Fruits. Mrs. Stivers is survived by three children, Fred L. and Alonzo J. Stivers and Mrs. Fay C. Cordray all of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Lavina Maltsberger and Mrs, Mary Keys, of Waynetown; a half brother, Jason Fruits, of Waynetown; thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Interment will take place in the Masonic cemetery.
[Note: He was married about 4 times, first one Louisa Jones Fruits, she is buried in Fruits McCormick, 6 children; second wife was Emanda Jane Thomas Fruits, they had 5 kids, William is buried next to her in Waynetown Masonic, she was the sister of William G. Keys wife, Ester Matilda, then he married the widow Elizabeth Maltsberger, in which two of their children ended up getting married later, then there was a third wife, she was also a widow, I think her name was Meyer, not sure, I am trying to figure it all out, it is in the books, but I like to prove it, I want to prove she actually married 5 times, every time I find her in the census she was Rebbecca Stivers.
Mary Myers, was a widow, but Myers was her maiden name, she is buried next to her first husband IN Zackmire in Fountain, she was married to a Philpott William Jason & Emanda Jane Thomas Fruits 2nd marriage children were Esther Catherine Margaret Elizabet Flora Etta Emanda Jane William Jason Margaret and Emanda died young Esther married a Runyon, Flora Etta married a Waggoner and William Jason married twice and had a son named David from his first marriage, William Jason Fruits, marriages were Eliza Louisa Jones Emanda Jane Thomas Elizabeth Tedlock she was a widow Mary Sarah Myers who was probably also a widow Maybe it was the Tedlock that married, not the maltsberger, I know there was a marrige like that somewhere in this family, I was sure it was Maltsberger, I will have to look into it further The picture I have has Rebecca, Barbara, Lavina, Mary Matilda, and John, taken about 1900, brother Allen died in 1899, those are from his first marriage. I have a picture of her also, posted on findagrave' -- Kim
