BURRETTE STRAIN

THORNTOWN – Burette Strain, 67, Colfax, area farmer and former vice chairman of the Boone County Farm Bureau, died today in Witham Hospital at Lebanon. He had been in failing health for several years. He had once managed a feed store at Clayton and later was manager of a grain elevator at Westphalia, Ind. He also worked for many years in Oklahoma and Arkansas for a firm which mined boxite. A member of the United Methodist Church of Thorntown, he was active in church work when his health permitted. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and OES at Colfax. A graduate of Thorntown High School, he attended Vincennes Business College. Born Oct. 24, 1905, in Boone County, he was the son of Everett and Mattie L. Bradburn Strain. He was married March 4, 1928, at Attica to Elsie Evans. She survives. He is also survived by a brother, Marrette of Dumont, N.J. He was preceded in death by an infant son. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Russell & Hitch Funeral Home here with the Rev. Harold Clark officiating. Burial will be in Plain View Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. – jlr
