Mrs. Elizabeth Stonecypher died at her home at Lafayette Thursday. She was formerly a resident of this place and was the mother of Tom and Jere Conner. - transcribed by kbz

Elizabeth A. Stonecypher died at Lafayette THursday evening at 8 o'clock, age 59 years. She was a daughte rof Jeremiah and Didama Stilwell, being a sister to TL and SA Stilwell of this city. When young she married Wilson Conner and to them were born two children: Thos. L and Jerre, who are well known here. Wilson Conner died in 1863 while in the army. The deceased afterward married William William Stonecypher who survives. They were blessed with one daughter, Tura who is 16 years old. A few years ago they left their farm, about 3 miles north of the city and moved to Lafayette. For several years the deceased has been a member of the new sxchool Baptist Church and was known as an exemplary Christian woman, all who knew her loved her. The remains arrived on the 1:10 train Sunday over the Monon and were taken to the First Baptist Church for services after which the remains were laid away in Oak Hill to await the second coming to Him who doeth all things well. Speaking of the death of Mrs. Wm Stonecypher the Lafayette Call says:
“After many weeks of patient suffering death came at 8:30 o’clock last night to the relief of Mrs. William H. Stonecypher at the family residence, No. 20 South 26th Street, from the effects of a cancer. She was 54 years old and had been married twice. A husband and four children survive to mourn her loss together with many acquaintances and friends. She was a member of the Baptist Church and of Triumph Lodge No. 291, Daughters of Rebekah. She was a most estimable woman and had won the regard of a large circle of friends by her excellent qualities. She was loving and affectionate in her relations as wife and mother and the family feels most deeply the loss they have sustained in her death. The remains will be taken to Crawfordsville for interment.”
Lafayette Journal: “The funeral of the late Mrs. Wm H. Stonecypher was conducted from the family residence, on Oakland Hill, yesterday morning at 10:30 o’clock. The deceased was a member of the First Baptist Church, and the religious services were conducted by Rev. D. R. Landis. She was also a member of Triumph Lodge No. 291, Daughters of Rebekah, and the members of that order attended the services in a body. The burial ritual of the order was conducted and a solo sung by Mrs. Lottie Bahls. The remains were taken to Crawfordsville for burial, leaving here at 12:25 p.m. over the Monon. Miss Sarah Howell and Mrs. W. H. Andrews, representing Triumph Lodge, accompanied the remains to Crawfordsville. -s
