James Oscar
STODDARD, was born in Montgomery County, Indiana November 4, 1849 and
died at his home in Chelsea, Iowa March 23, 1916 aged 66 Years 4 Months
19 days. He was the 7th child of a family of 8 children having two
brothers and five sisters. He was married Oct 16, 1875 to Miss Josie E.
DEWEY who for over 40 years has proved herself a faithful companion. He
went to Iowa in 1876 and settled in Tama County where after 12 years sn
his farm east of town he moved to Chelsea. For over 20 years he has been
engaged in real estate and insurance in our beloved village where he
has been recognized as one of our loyal citizens. The relatives who
survive to mourn his loss are his faithful and devoted wife, Joseph
Stoddard of Chelsea, Iowa; his sister, Mrs. Jennie Penrose of Tama,
Iowa; his daughter, Mrs. Verne Tracey of Clinton, Iowa and another
daughter, Anna E. Stoddard of this city; his sons, Vaughn, Hal, Ray and
James of Chelsea. Also 3 grandchildren with all of whom our village and
