“Sugar Creek Dispatch” – The sure but relentless hand of death has been with us, snatching from fond embraces many dear loved ones. Margaret, wife of CD Cook a much respected woman and mother, lately died after a protracted illness. In less than a week she was followed by Milton Stingley’s wife who died very suddenly of congestive child. Jennie, consort of John B. Jones and daughter of Jacob Shobe, a much loved and widely known Christian lady died happy on the 14th ult. Mrs. Stover, wife of John Stover, an old lady, departed this life Oct 31, 1869. Mrs. Stover was a very kind-hearted woman. Always the first sent for in her vicinity in case of sickness or distress, she seldom failed to attend with a willing heart and helping hand. Much we miss “Old Aunt Polly.” Peace forever to the good Samaritan
Stingley (8 July 1833 – 30 Oct 1869 buried St. James Lutheran Cemetery).
